RAMS WIN HOLIDAY BOWL 35-24 OVER MISSOURI

With two local San Diegoans taking MVP honors the Rams rolled over Missouri. Join Ramline next week for a look back at the 1997 season and the Holiday Bowl VICTORY.

WAC Championship RAMS 41-Lobos 13 FINAL

The Lobos choose to recieve. Following an 11-play drive they turn it over on a fake field goal on 4th and 2 as Eason Ramson stops the Lobos. Moreno leads the Rams through a short three-and-out before Loose punts it away with 8:16 left in the first.

The Lobos put together a drive and end up with three points. The Rams have trailed only once before in their 7-game win streak. The Rams trailed 0-3 to the San Diego State Aztecs.

Darran Hall starts off a nice drive with a kickoff return to midfield. Franz ends the drive with a field goal.

After a couple of short changes in possession the Lobos take away a Ram pass and convert it to 7 points.

With 3:44 left in the 2nd quarter Washington takes it half the legnth of the field and puts 6 on the borard for the Rams. Franz adds teh PAT and it's a tied ballgame.

The Rams and Lobos trade interceptions to end the half.

McDougal takes it 44 yards up the middle on the Rams' second possesion of the half and makes it 17-10 Rams.

The Rams give it away in the Lobo's end-zone and thake it away on the very next paly. It's 20-13 Rams.

Several quick scores and the Rams are running away with the game at 33-10.

McDougal became the second Ram running back to break a 1000 yard season. He added another six late in the game to take the Ram ahead 41-13.


Rams vs. Aztecs RAMS 38-Aztecs 17 FINAL

RAMS WIN PACIFIC DIVISION

A late touchdown and then a turnover give the Aztec's the ball after closing the game to 38-10.

Jamie Bennett hauls in a SDSU pick and takes it in for a Ram touchdown. Excessive celebration will be the call against the Rams... Actually it's offsetting penalties and a SDSU player will be ejected. Franz makes it a 35-point ball-game.

Off an impressive opening drive the Rams are held to a field-goal. After a poor Aztec series McDougal takes a long run from mid-field to the one-yard line. McDougal then finished it off to make it the first seven from the rush for the Rams.

With :53 left Willie Taylor gets the ball free again and Nate Kvamme covers it up at the San Diego 30-yard line.

With 1:30 left in the half Adrian Ross forces a fumble which is recovered by the Rams. Following a drive across midfield Moses Moreno again hits a reciever - this time Darran Hall, former baseball minor-leaguer - for another six points. Franz adds the PAT.

Following a missed Aztec field goal try the Rams take over. Washington makes a fantastic run to move the Rams to mid-field. With 3:28 left in the half Frank Rice hauls in a 41-yard touchdown pass and the Rams lead it 14-3.

The first half has been tough for the Rams. The San Diego State Aztecs dominated play early but made only three points out of it. Then with 8 minutes left in the half the Rams put a dirve together and lead it 7-3.


Las Vegas Update

A win for the Rams tonight means they will travel to Las Vegas in two weeks to play for the conference championship. Join Ramline following tonight's game for details on tickets and travel to Las Vegas.

1997 Football Schedule


Rams at UNLV

Today's score will be updated throughout the game which begins at 1:00 (PT). It will be a game of give and take. The Rams lead the nation (NCAA Division I-A) in take aways with a stellar +2. The Rebels are more generous, in fact only seven teams are more generous, turning the ball over 1.38 times a game.

As the Rams Offense take the field for the first time midway through the first quarter they lead 7-3 following Terry's 50-yard interception return for the Rams and a Rebel field goal. The Rams capped the period with an offensive touchdown and a 14-3 lead coming from a five-minute drive.

The Rebels answer with another field goal and an interception-return for seven more points. In the second quarter it's 14-13 Rams.

Following a Ram drive Franz comes in to put three on the board for the Rams giving them a 17-13 lead.

To begin the second half the Rams and Rebels each had unproductive possessions. On their second possession Matt McDougal took it 56 yards to the end-zone on a single run. 24-13 Rams as they decline the penalty against UNLV.

Jamie Blake tacks on another touchdown for the Rams in the thrid quarter after a strong drive down the field. 31-13 Rams!

Washington tacks on another six, which with Franz's kick makes it 38-13 for the Rams.

The Rams will wind up the afternoon with a 45-19 victory following more scoring by the second- and third-string offenseses.

Colorado State vs. Tulsa - Live Coverage will begin at 12:00 (MT) Sunday, October 28, 1997. The game time (and date) was changed because of the first blizzard of the 1997 season in Colorado.

Rams at San Jose State; Rams 55 - Spartans 20;

Following a tougher than expected first half the Rams came out in the second half and obliterated San Jose State.

Now the Rams turn to next week's game with the Wyoming Cowboys. A must win for the Rams the game will be carried live on Ramline.


Ram-Rainbow Game; Rams 63 - Rainbows 0

The Rams flattened the Rainbows in Saturday's game. The final score indicates the Rams' dominance over the stymied University of Hawaii Rainbows. "We went in looking for a good showing,"Coach Lubick said after the game. They got it.
