Rams Continue Two-a-day WorkoutsSunday, August 9, 1998
Fort Collins. Colorado State's football team continued two-a-day workouts Sunday, concluding the team's second day of practice with two more sessions in helmets and shoulder pads. Following the workout, head coach Sonny Lubick said he's most impressed by his team's work ethic. "We seem to be working hard out here. In the morning, we were a bit sluggish, but we working. I think that we are working very hard." Lubick put his team through a pair of workouts on Saturday, then two more on Sunday. Monday, the team will have a morning workout dedicated strictly to special teams before returning to the field for a normal team workout Monday afternoon. Two more workouts are scheduled for Tuesday, before the Rams put on full gear for the start of contact sessions Wednesday. Lubick also complemented quarterback Ryan Eslinger, a fifth-year senior from Pueblo, for his work to date. Injuries continued to be a concern for Lubick as a second defensive starter was sidelined during Sunday's workout by a hamstring pull. Middle linebacker Willie Taylor, a three-year starter with more career and consecutive starts (36) than any player on the roster, went to the sidelines late in Sunday's afternoon workout session with a sore left hamstring. His status is day-to-day. Defensive end Clark Haggans, who had 12 quarterback sacks a season ago to rank among the Western Athletic Conference leaders, injured his right hamstring Friday during physical conditioning drills and is out indefinitely.
