ST. LOUIS -- The Sporting News announced today that Colorado State is number 19 in its countdown of the top 25 preseason NCAA Division I-A football teams.

The preview also includes The Sporting News All-America Rankings, which names three Colorado State players among the best in the nation. TSN ranks guard Anthony Cesario first, center Mike Newell tenth and fullback Damon Washington second in their respective categories. Cesario is also a member of The Sporting News Preseason All-American Team.

TSN Online will release the status of one team each day, beginning with Washington (No. 25) and culminating June 23 with the identification of the number one team, which remains a tightly held secret.

To promote the "Countdown,"TSN Online is sponsoring a contest to name the Top 10 schools. Those who correctly guess the Top 10 in order will be eligible for prizes, including two tickets to the 1998 college football regular-season game of the winner's choice.

The complete list of the Top 25, along with in-depth team profiles, will be detailed in The Sporting News' 1998 College Football preview, available June 23.
