Fort Collins-- Sonny Lubick put the Rams through a two-hour morning workout Monday morning, followed by an afternoon practice dedicated solely to special teams. The Rams are in the midst of two-a-day workouts in preparation for the 1997 season. Colorado State begins the regular season on Aug. 30, playing host to Nevada at Hughes Stadium. Kickoff time for the Ag Day game is 2 p.m. The Rams are in their third full day of workouts. To date, all workouts have been conducted in "shells"- shorts, and helmets. The Rams will put the pads on for the first time Wednesday for a single, afternoon workout at 4 p.m. "Special teams are so important, that we feel it is necessary to take the time and spend a practice working on the kicking game,"said Lubick. "The biggest thing is that the players are continuing to work hard. That's the most important thing. As I told them, if they continue to do that, the rest takes care of itself,"said Lubick. "I thought that we had a crisp, hard workout Sunday afternoon, and we had another good practice Monday." "We are competing very well. One of the areas that really pleases me right now is the wide receiver position. We have a solid receiving corps. The players we have at receiver will only make our defensive backs better, working against them every day in practice,"said Lubick.
