RAMS SIGN JUNIOR COLLEGE FORWARD CEDRIC GOODWYN TO MEN'S BASKETBALL NATIONAL LETTER OF INTENT

FORT COLLINS--Colorado State men's basketball coach Stew Morrill announced yesterday the signing of Ceedric Goodwayn to a national letter of intent.

Goodwyn is a 6-8, 235-pound forward who played the last two seasons at Midland (Texas) Junior College. Goodwyn averaged 19.1 points and 4.7 rebounds per game this past season. He shot 58 percent from the floor and scored in double figures in 25 games, including 12 games of 20 or more points. Goodwyn averaged nearly 25 points per game over the team's final five games this year, including a season-ending 32-point performance against South Plains Junior College.

Goodwyn had four double-double games in scoring and rebounding in 1997. Twice he had 14 rebounds in a game, his career high.

According to Morrill, Goodwyn will play an immediate role at Colorado State in 1997-98.

"Our priority in spring recruiting has been to add a player or two that would have an immediate impact on our program,"Morrill said. "We feed Ceedric can do exactly that.

"His No. 1 strength is his ability to play power basketball inside. He also has the skills to face up to the basket and perform on the perimeter.

"Our team character and chemistry were vital to our success this past season. Ceedric is a quality young man who will fit into that, and add to those team concepts."

Goodwyn will enroll at Colorado State at the beginning of the fall semester 1997.
