Two New Assistant Coaches Join Ram's Football Program

Wednesday, February 12, 1997

FORT COLLINS-- Colorado State head football coach Sonny Lubick today announced the appointment of two assistant coaches to his staff.

Lubick said that Thurmond Moore and former Rams' player Brian Schneider have joined his coaching staff. Moore will be a member of the defensive staff, working with the team's defensive linemen. Schneider will coach special teams and tight ends.

"We are really fortunate and very honored to have Thurmond and Brian joining our coaching staff,"Lubick said. "They are outstanding coaches, and they represent all of the things that are important in our program."

"We had a lot of great applicants - almost 170 - but we feel that these two individuals fit into our program perfectly."

Moore has a lengthy list of coaching experience. He spent last summer working as a defensive line assistant with the Oakland Raiders and coached in the World League with the London Monarchs as a defensive coordinator. He spent the 1995 season as an assistant at North Texas, and in 1994, was a defensive assistant with the Amsterdam Admirals of the World League. He also formerly coached at Utah State, Northern Arizona, and with the San Francisco 49ers and Arizona Cardinals of the National Football League.

Schneider was a four-year letterwinner and three-year starter for the Rams who concluded his playing career in 1993 as one of the school's most prominent linebackers. He played for Lubick's first Colorado State team in 1993. That season, he earned first-team all-Western Athletic Conference honors.

Schneider concluded his playing career with 333 tackles, still the fourth highest total in Colorado State history. He has been a member of Lubick's staff the past three seasons as a graduate assistant coach.
