Colorado State University Offers Summer Youth Sport Camps
Friday, April 17, 1998
FORT COLLINS--The department of exercise and sport science
at Colorado State University will offer a variety of sport camps
for children this summer.
Participants can choose from one-week camps for soccer,
basketball, baseball, tennis, softball and volleyball; swim
lessons; and two-week super sport camps that include sport
instruction, arts and crafts and a field trip. Programs are
designed to allow campers to develop individual skills in a fun
and safe environment. Age range for campers varies depending on
the camps chosen, but typically includes ages 6-13.
"The camps are structured with individual ability levels in
mind," said Vinson Sutlive, co-director of the camp program. "Our
goal is to provide a caring environment where each camper is
having fun and challenged to move forward. When kids enjoy a
physical activity, it's the beginning of a lifelong approach to
healthy living."
The majority of instructors are Colorado State graduate and
undergraduate students majoring in exercise and sport science.
Instructors are trained to apply sound teaching and coaching
principles that emphasize personal success and fun for each
camper.
Multiple sessions for each sport will be offered throughout
the summer. Full-day sport camp sessions cost $100 per week and
half-day sessions cost $50 per week. Prices vary for super sport
camps and swim lessons. Pre-registration is ongoing until May 1.
Regular registration begins May 2, and will continue through the
first day of each camp. A discount is available for
preregistration.
