Director Of Manufacturing Centers At Colorado State University Resigns
Tuesday, April 7, 1998
FORT COLLINS--The director of Colorado State University's
Manufacturing Excellence Center and the Colorado Manufacturing
Extension Center has announced his resignation.
Wade Troxell, co-founder and director of the two centers,
will complete his duties Aug. 15. The Manufacturing Excellence
Center is a consortium of Colorado State University faculty
members and students that provide assistance to Colorado's
manufacturing sector. The center's mission is to help Colorado
companies become more competitive. The center gives special
attention to smaller companies in need of technical assistance.
Troxell, associate professor in the department of
mechanical engineering, and Byron Winn, professor emeritus in the
department of mechanical engineering, co-founded the
Manufacturing Excellence Center in 1988. In 1992, the
Manufacturing Excellence Center added field engineering outreach
services to complement its on-campus resources. The field
engineering services evolved into the Colorado Manufacturing
Extension Center last year.
"I am most grateful to have served Colorado's manufacturing
sector and Colorado State University over the last 10 years,"
Troxell said. "It is gratifying to see a company grow and prosper
with well-timed assistance provided by Colorado State students
and faculty. Community service with technical and business
outreach is at the heart of a land-grant institution like
Colorado State."
Under Troxell's directorship, the manufacturing centers have
completed over 1,000 projects, most of them with small to
medium-sized companies.
Following his resignation, Troxell will continue his systems
design and robotics research and teaching in the department of
mechanical engineering at Colorado State.
