Taxation Expert To Head Colorado State's Accounting Department

FORT COLLINS--Cherie J. O'Neil, Quinn Professor of Taxation at the University of Southern Florida, has been named chairwoman of the accounting department at Colorado State University.

O'Neil co-wrote "Tax Point," the first interactive electronic text on taxation that uses CD- ROM technology, and has published in the Journal of the American Taxation Association, Tax Notes and the Tax Advisor. She serves on the editorial boards of the International Journal of Accounting, Auditing and Taxation, the National Tax Journal and Journal of the American Taxation Association.

Active in the public accounting community, O'Neil currently serves on two national committees of the American Institute for Certified Public Accountants, has authored several courses on certified public accountancy for the institute and has served on the board of her local chapter for six years. She has been a faculty vice president for Beta Alpha Psi, national accounting honor society.

After earning her doctorate from the University of Colorado at Boulder, O'Neil joined the faculty of the University of South Florida in Tampa in 1990. She began her duties at Colorado State April 1.
