Colorado State University Students Hit The Fashion Runway
Tuesday, March 17, 1998
FORT COLLINS--Colorado State University students will have a
chance to show off their original designs at the 26th annual
student fashion show March 30-31.
The event will be held at 8 p.m. in the Lory Student Center
Ballroom on campus. Tickets are $4 for students and $8 for
nonstudents, and will be sold at the Lory Student Center Flea
Market on March 27, at the student center box office March 23-31
and at the door the day of the shows.
"Colorado State's Design and Merchandising Association
produces the only college fashion show in the nation that is
designed and managed entirely by students," said Tricia Widner,
show coordinator and graduate student in the department of
design, merchandising and consumer science. "It's an absolutely
unique event."
At the show, students will model 145 garments created by 26
student designers. Each garment is placed in one of eight
categories including evening wear, casual wear, club wear and
bridal wear.
"The diversity of Colorado State is represented by the
designers," said Jessica Deck, president of the Design and
Merchandising Association. "The collection, like the school, is a
melting pot and offers a variety of styles."
A panel of professionals in the fashion industry have
evaluated each garment based on construction, quality and design
technique. At the show, awards will be given in each category as
well as an award for best of show.
