Colorado State's College Of Business Launches 11-Month MBA; New Program Focuses On Information Technology, Globalization

Tuesday, March 3, 1998

FORT COLLINS--Colorado State University's College of Business will launch an accelerated master's in business administration degree that takes 11 months to complete and focuses on information technology and globalization.

The new full-time program, which debuts fall semester 1998, is designed for those who want to make a career change or obtain a graduate degree in a short period of time. The accelerated program is unique in its design to serve students with undergraduate degrees in business and non-business fields.

The new MBA also differs from other accelerated business graduate programs in Colorado by integrating information technology and global business issues throughout the curriculum and emphasizing team skills, said Dan Costello, dean of the College of Business.

"Our research shows there is tremendous demand for an MBA with this focus. This new program is geared toward anyone who wishes to have a solid foundation of knowledge in information technology and globalization," Costello said. "By integrating an understanding of technology into this program, our graduates will be second to none and fully prepared to succeed in a rapidly changing workforce."

An information session on the new accelerated MBA will take place 5:30-6:30 p.m. March 18 and 11 a.m.-noon March 19, Room 170 Rockwell Hall on campus. A third information session is scheduled from noon-1 p.m. March 25, Room 305 at Colorado State's Denver Center, 110 16th St. College of Business representatives will be available to answer questions about admissions requirements and the curriculum.

Upon completion of the new Colorado State MBA program, Costello said graduates will better understand the economic, social, political and legal factors influencing the business trends and the role of technology in the management of organizations. Graduates also will be able to use state-of-the- art technology and software in analysis and decision-making and obtain experience in the dynamics of teamwork.

All courses in the accelerated MBA will be taught during the day on the Colorado State campus. To be eligible, applicants must score high on the Graduate Management Admissions Test and have a strong grade point average. There are no additional prerequisites for the program.

Applications for the new program are now being accepted and are available by calling the College of Business at (970) 491- 1022.

Focus on information technology and globalization are major themes throughout the college's MBA curriculum. The other MBA programs are:
