Monday, February 23, 1998
FORT COLLINS--Colorado State University will launch a new
recognition event Feb. 24 to honor all faculty, administrative
professionals and classified staff who have reached service
milestones with the university this fiscal year.
The first "Celebrating Service Milestones" event is
scheduled for 3 p.m. Feb. 24, beginning with an awards ceremony
in the Main Ballroom of the Lory Student Center followed
immediately by a reception from 4-5:30 p.m. in the West Ballroom.
The university and Fort Collins community are invited to attend
the ceremony and reception.
"This special occasion is one of the means we use to express
our gratitude to those who provide necessary continuity and
dedication to excellence at this university," said Penelope
Bauer, chairwoman of Faculty Council.
This is the first time the university has honored all
faculty and staff for service milestones at the same event.
People honored at the event will include those reaching the
following milestone years:
10, 15, 20, 25, 30, 35, 40, 45 and 50.
Professor Emeritus Maurice Albertson will be honored this
year for a half-century of service to Colorado State, and Gladys
Eddy, assistant to the dean of the College of Business, will be
recognized for 45 years of work at the university.
Deb McCune, chairwoman of the Administrative Professional
Council, said the new event was a chance to celebrate the
achievements of those who have made long-term commitments to
Colorado State.
"These people are the core of Colorado State University and
its commitment to serve students - and this is a great chance, as
a community, to honor them," McCune said.
"We're excited for this event as an opportunity to bring
faculty and staff together," said Shelly May, chairwoman of both
the Colorado State University Activities Board and the Classified
Personnel Council Special Events Board, which have been active in
planning the milestones celebration.
"This is one time when we really can take the opportunity -
and should take the opportunity - to recognize the outstanding
human resources of this university, whether administrative
professional, faculty or state classified staff," added Kathy
Ahlbrandt, chairwoman of the Classified Personnel Council.
