Design Program At Colorado State Receives State Of The Art Technology From Denver Business
Tuesday, February 10, 1998
FORT COLLINS--Melco Embroidery Systems, a Denver-based
company, recently donated a $34,000 industrial embroidery system
to the department of design, merchandising and consumer sciences
at Colorado State University.
The gift will allow students studying apparel design and
production to create logos and intricate embellishments on their
projects. Use of the embroidery system will help students
understand industry embroidery standards and the role embroidery
plays in the production process.
Melco's gift, part of the expansion of industrial technology
in the department's academic curriculum, included embroidery
machinery, a Pentium computer, software and training for two
instructors.
Eulanda Sanders, a professor in the department, will be one
of the instructors receiving two weeks of training from Melco.
"This means we can simulate actual industry processes," Sanders
said. "Having hands-on experience is an additional tool in
helping students get jobs. It is an unusual opportunity for
undergraduate students to have access to this type of technology.
This semester 20 students will have the chance to produce a
variety of embroidered soft goods."
