Colorado State Campus Begins Green & Gold Week Dec. 15-19

Monday, December 15, 1997

Note to Editors: Media are invited to attend the Colorado

State Holiday Bowl Pep Rally 4 p.m. Friday (Dec. 19) at the

Moby Arena South Concourse. Ram fans will line up from the

practice field to cheer the Rams football team as it

finishes its last at-home practice.

FORT COLLINS--Colorado State faculty, staff, students and Ram fans are encouraged to display their Ram pride by wearing green and gold gear during Green and Gold Week, Dec. 15-19.

The week will culminate in a Holiday Bowl Pep Rally 4 p.m. Friday at the Moby Arena South Concourse. Ram fans are invited to cheer on Coach Sonny Lubick and the Rams football team as it finishes its last practice on home turf. The event will feature free food, music and giveaways.

Wearing green and gold attire is just one way to support the Rams football team before it takes on the Missouri Tigers of the Big 12 conference at the Plymouth Holiday Bowl in San Diego on Dec. 29.

To generate Holiday Bowl spirit on campus, the university has organized a Green and Gold Ticket Sales Contest among departments. The contest gives faculty and staff a chance to help the Rams fill the Holiday Bowl ticket requirement and win prizes for their efforts.

The department that sells the most tickets (with a minimum of 20 tickets) will win a grand prize of 50 ski lift tickets to Steamboat Springs. Departments must self-report how many tickets they have purchased (for themselves or the Kids First program) by Thursday, Dec. 18. Ticket receipts may be necessary in the event of a tie.

Departments with the most creative use of green and gold also have a chance to win 20 free lift tickets to Steamboat Springs through the Green and Gold Door Decorating Contest. All departments are encouraged to decorate their doors to demonstrate the theme "Go Bowling with the Rams!" Special "celebrity" judges will visit decorated departmental doors Friday morning and select the winner based on the most creative use of green and gold.

Off-campus offices interested in joining the fun may submit a photo of their green and gold door to the judges via the University Relations office. Departments or other Ram fans interested in participating in either contest may contact Michelle Rovang or June Greist in University Relations, (970) 491-6432.

Ram fans can access other information on Colorado State's third Holiday Bowl bid in four years by clicking on the special link to the "Rams Bowl Bound" Web pages via the university's home page, www.colostate.edu. Fans may also place their ticket orders with the university by calling Bowl Central at 800-491-RAMS. Bowl Central staffers also have complete information on two- three-day travel packages available to San Diego.

The Rams will take on Missouri at the Holiday Bowl, set for Dec. 29 in San Diego with a 6 p.m. (MST) kickoff.
