Tuesday, October 14, 1997
FORT COLLINS--Students, faculty, staff, and community
members are invited to join in the Celebration of Neighborhoods,
a city-wide party for the Fort Collins community Oct. 24 from
6-10:30 p.m. in the Lory Student Center Ballroom on the Colorado
State University campus.
Live music by the ever-popular Liz Barnez and the Mudheads
and a presentation by the entertaining and inspirational Jep Enck
will be featured at the celebration sponsored by Colorado State
University and the City of Fort Collins Neighborhood Resources
Office. There will be plenty of good food, fun and special
activities for children--all free to participants.
Now in its fourth year, the annual event is aimed at
strengthening neighborhoods and the Fort Collins community. The
event stresses the important role neighborhoods play in
preserving a strong and healthy city. In addition to
acknowledging the accomplishments of neighborhood groups in Fort
Collins, the celebration also serves as a forum for community
members to meet one another, exchange ideas, learn more about
issues affecting neighborhoods and renew inspiration.
"Students are a vital and vibrant part of the Fort Collins
community," said Dan MacArthur of the Neighborhood Resources
office. "This celebration is an opportunity for students to get
involved with the broader community and also for community
members to build positive relations with students."
The evening will kick off at 6 p.m. with food and
refreshments, followed by a presentation and group discussion led
by Jep Enck at 7 p.m. A former school teacher, Enck is perhaps
best known locally for his long involvement in youth issues.
Currently president of the Human Resource Institute, an
organization specializing in training and motivational
presentations, Enck promises to be an energetic and funny speaker
who offers a unique and inspiring message. At 9 p.m., following
Enck's presentation, Liz Barnez and her band will entertain with
the smooth but spirited sound that participants of all ages can
enjoy.
