FORT COLLINS--Colorado State University's College of
Business will celebrate the completion of its new home, Rockwell
Hall, in a dedication ceremony at noon Wednesday (Oct. 8).
The dedication program will include remarks from Colorado
State University President Albert Yates; Sen. Peggy Reeves, D-
Fort Collins; and Dan Costello, dean of the College of Business.
Special guest will be Lewis E. Platt, president and chief
executive officer of Hewlett-Packard Co., an international
electronics and technology corporation with annual revenues of
more than $38 billion.
The dedication ceremony marks the completion of a five-year
project to renovate and expand Rockwell Hall. The first phase,
completed in 1995, renovated and modernized 36,000 existing
square feet to accommodate college administrative, faculty and
student services offices. Phase II, the most recently completed
portion of the $7.7 million project, added a Classroom and
Technology Wing that will serve as the high-tech hub for business
courses at Colorado State.
The new wing features an additional 25,198 square feet and
houses six multimedia classrooms equipped with state-of-the-art
computer and video technology. The new wing also includes a
Hewlett-Packard Student Computer Laboratory equipped with 62
computer stations; an additional 49-seat computer classroom;
seminar room and two presentation rooms; and housing for the
department of computer information systems.
Students will have access to the most current technology
available to learn real-world business concepts and theories,
including the Internet, as well as audio, video and graphics
through CD-ROM. With this technology, the estimated 2,800
business students enrolled at Colorado State will be able to
develop their own multimedia presentations and Web page resumes.
In addition to attending the Rockwell Hall dedication as a
special guest, Platt also will deliver the Capstone lecture as
part of the 19th Annual Business Day at 8 p.m. at the University
Park Holiday Inn, 425 W. Prospect Road in Fort Collins. Both the
lecture and a 4:30 p.m. question-and-answer period for students
and the public are free.
