John Ebersole To Head Division Of Continuing And Distance Education
Thursday, July 3, 1997
FORT COLLINS--Colorado State University's new director of
the Division of Continuing and Distance Education comes from the
University of California-Berkeley with a firm belief in the
importance of education at all stages of life.
John F. Ebersole, currently assistant dean and director of
Strategic Initiatives at UC-Berkeley Extension, will begin his
duties at Colorado State Sept. 1.
"John brings a wealth of both academic and business
experience to this position," said Colorado State Provost David
Young. "I am confident he will continue to ensure Continuing and
Distance Education offers programs of the highest quality and
applicability to an evermore demanding audience."
Ebersole was a distinguished graduate of the Naval War
College in 1979. He earned a master's of business administration
in 1982 and a master's of public administration in 1981 from John
F. Kennedy University. He did post-graduate work at Harvard
University's Institute for the Management of Lifelong Learning in
1993.
"I firmly believe the unrelenting pace of change and the
increasing complexity of professional life are creating a demand
for continuing education and lifelong learning that is
unprecedented," Ebersole said. "By focusing on the needs of the
learner, embracing innovation, exploring new markets (at home and
abroad) and departing from models that no longer serve, providers
of continuing education can create a wealth of opportunity--both
for the student and the providing institution."
Ebersole has served as chair of Continuing Education in
Business and Management at the University of California-Berkeley,
and as faculty member, associate dean and dean of the School of
Management at John F. Kennedy University from 1984 to 1995.
In the non-academic area, he was principal consultant for
the University Consulting Group in Lafayette, Calif., from 1989
to 1991 and executive vice president of Marsh and Company
Investment Bankers of San Francisco, Calif., from 1983-1984.
