Four Finalists Identified In Search For Colorado Agricultural Experiment Station Director

FORT COLLINS--Colorado State University has announced the four finalists for director of the Colorado Agricultural Experiment Station. Gordon Niswender, search-committee chairman and director of the Animal Reproduction and Biotechnology Laboratory at Colorado State, said candidates will be on campus for interviews May 15-16, May 21-22, May 27-28 and June 1-2.

Following are the candidates, their qualifications and the times and locations of open forums.

* R. Kent Crookston is professor and head of the Department of Agronomy and Plant Genetics at the University of Minnesota. Crookston received his bachelor's degree in agronomy from Brigham Young University in 1968 and his master's and doctorate degrees in plant physiology from the University of Minnesota in 1970 and 1972 respectively. Crookston's open forum is scheduled at 1 p.m. May 15 in Room 214 in the Lory Student Center.

* F. Dan Hess is vice president of the Palo Alto Research Division of Novartis Crop Protection. Hess received his bachelor's degree in horticulture from Michigan State University in 1969 and his master's and doctorate degrees in plant physiology from the University of California-Davis in 1973 and 1975 respectively. Hess' open forum is scheduled at 1 p.m. May 21 in the Virginia Dale Room of the Lory Student Center.

* James L. Frazier is head of the Department of Entomology at The Pennsylvania State University. Frazier received his bachelor's degree in zoology and entomology from The Ohio State University in 1966 and his doctorate in entomology from The Ohio State University in 1970. Frazier's open forum is scheduled at 1 p.m. May 27 in Room 220 of the Lory Student Center.

* Lee Sommers is interim director of the Colorado Agricultural Experiment Station at Colorado State. Sommers received his bachelor's degree in agriculture from Wisconsin State University-Platteville in 1966 and his master's and doctorate degrees in soil science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 1969 and 1971 respectively. Sommers' open forum is scheduled at 2 p.m. June 2 in Room 208 of the Lory Student Center.
