Tuesday, April 8, 1997
FORT COLLINS--Colorado State University will honor faculty,
staff, students and alumni during the sixth annual Celebrate
Colorado State! festivities April 18-26.
Celebrate Colorado State! was developed in 1992 to recognize
service and scholarship excellence in the university community.
Since then, the event has grown into a campus tradition that
joins the campus and local community in celebrations during the
final weeks of the academic year.
This year, Associated Students of Colorado State University
will help kick off Celebrate Colorado State! with the first-ever
Green and Gold Explosion April 19. The day will feature free
tournament games and local music. For the grand finale, The Steve
Miller Band will perform at
7:30 p.m. at Moby Arena. Cost for the concert is $20 for Colorado
State students; all others can purchase tickets through
Ticketmaster at (303) 830-8497.
Highlighting the week of events is the Celebrate Colorado
State! Honors Luncheon April 24. Hundreds of students, faculty
and staff will gather to honor outstanding accomplishments of the
past year. This year, the keynote speaker is English Professor
Mary Crow, who recently was selected poet laureate of Colorado by
Gov. Roy Romer.
Crow has published seven books, including "I Have Tasted
