Rocky Mountain Horse Expo Includes 'who's Who' Of Equine Experts

FORT COLLINS--The fourth Rocky Mountain Horse Expo roster of
presenters reads like a "Who's Who" in the horse world. Scheduled
for April 4-6 at the National Western Stock Show Complex Events
Center in Denver, the Horse Expo will feature the glitterati of
the equine world, including such industry leaders as Richard
Shrake, Linda Tellington-Jones and Temple Grandin.
Sponsored by Colorado State University Cooperative Extension
and the Colorado Horse Council, the annual Expo provides
educational and entertainment programs for those with equine
interests at all levels.
Highlights for this year's event include the following:
* a program on holistic methods of teaching and nurturing
animals to promote emotional and physical health by founder of
the Tellington Touch Equine Awareness Method, Linda Tellington-
Jones of Santa Fe, N.M.;
* a demonstration of medieval games on horseback by Colorado
State University students wearing authentic period costumes;
* training on how to use your horses' behavior traits to
advantage during training, by Colorado State Cooperative
Extension animal scientist and renowned animal behaviorist Temple
Grandin; and
* a program entitled "How to Adjust Your Training to Fit
Your Horse" by world-renowned horse trainer and judge Richard
Shrake of Sunrake, Ore., a leading proponent of "Resistance Free
(TM) Riding."
Other programs include presentations on horse heritage from
the Civil War era, acupuncture and chiropractic treatments of horses, horse
shoeing, non-
confrontational methods of training horses, equine reproduction, horse
genetics, and minimizing the
impact of horse rides on Colorado's trails and back country.
