SPECIAL EVENT NOTICE
* Colorado State University will host the fourth annual
Women of Color in Higher Education Conference, "Sisters: Dancing
In, Among, and Between Cultures," March 13 and 14 on the Fort
Collins campus.
About 500 women from around the state will attend the
conference. In recognition of the two-day conference, Fort
Collins Mayor Ann Azari has proclaimed March 13 and 14 as
Colorado Women of Color Days in Fort Collins.
The two-day seminar features keynote sessions, workshops and
panel discussions designed to cultivate professional network
opportunities, develop mentoring relationships and provide a
forum to address the critical issues that impact the lives of
women of color in Colorado higher education.
Dawn Person, assistant professor of higher education and co-
coordinator of student personnel programs at Teachers' College at
Columbia University, will deliver the opening keynote address,
"Sisters Creating a New Dance Through Coalition Building," at
2 p.m. March 13 in the Lory Student Center.
Registration is $35; $10 for students. Registration is
limited to 500. Early registration is strongly encouraged. For

Ongoing Events and Exhibits
* "Lead and Light," an exhibit by John Kissick, artist,
author, critic and faculty member at the School of Visual Arts at
Pennsylvania State University, runs March 23-April 25 at the
Clara Hatton Gallery of the Visual Arts Building. Gallery hours
are 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. weekdays and 1-4 p.m. Saturdays. Call

* "Threads of the World," an exhibit featuring dress and
textile artifacts from the Historic Costume and Textiles
Collection, runs through April 4 at the Lory Student Center
Curfman Gallery. Gallery hours are 8:30 a.m.-9 p.m. Monday-
Thursday, 8:30 a.m.-9:30 p.m. Fridays and 1-4 p.m. Saturdays.

* The Office of International Education sponsors "Making the
Impossible Plausible--Higher Education in United Germany:
Findings from the 1996 Fulbright Educator's Seminar" by Martha

* Friends of Traditional Dance and CSU Lifestyle Classes
sponsor the first of three country-western classes at 5:30 p.m.

metaphor and story, "Is What You See What You Get?" by Cynthia

* The department of physics presents "Novel Molecular
Tweezers as Receptors in Host-Guest Chemistry: Complexation and
Self-Assembly" by F.G. Klaerner from Universit=E4t Essen, Germany,

* Women's Studies Interdisciplinary Program sponsors a talk,
"Teaching Women Writers of Early Modern England: Theory and
Practice" by Barbara Sebek, assistant professor of English, 4:30-

* Friends of Traditional Dance and CSU Lifestyle Classes
sponsor the first of three beginning country-western classes at
5:30 p.m. and the first of three Argentine tango classes at
7 p.m. in the LSC North Ballroom. The first of seven belly-

* Judy Hannah, associate professor of earth resources,
discusses "The Tintic Mining District, Utah: Examining the Links
between Volcanism and Ore Genesis" 12:15-1 p.m. in Room 166 LSC.

* Cinema CSU presents "Angels and Insects" at 7 p.m. and "In
the Land of the Deaf," co-sponsored by the Office of Resources
for Disabled Students, at 9:30 p.m. in the LSC Theatre. Tickets

MON., MARCH 24
* The department of physics presents "Experiments in
deBroglie Wave Optics" by Harold Metcalf from State University of
New York at Stony Brook at 4:10 p.m. in Room 203-205 LSC.
* Tuba player Robert Brewer performs a Recital Series
concert at 7:30 p.m. in Room 203 Music Building. Tickets cost $3

Calendar addenda
* Colorado State University's Office of Resources for
Disabled Students presents its annual Disability Awareness Days
March 17-21. The theme for this year, "Don't DIS My Ability," was
selected to celebrate the experience of individuals who have
disabilities, without "dis-ing" their abilities. A schedule of
events follows.

* The Office of International Student Services at Colorado
State University hosts Foreign Language Camps for students and
community members March 22 and April 5. Native speakers of
German, French, Spanish and Japanese will lead participants in a
day of cultural and language immersion.
The German, French and Spanish Language Camps run Sat.,
March 22, and the Japanese camp runs Sat., April 5. Requirements
for participation in the camps are one to two semesters of the
language or an equivalent.
Deadline for registration is March 19 for the German,
French and Spanish camps and April 2 for the Japanese camp. Cost
is $6, which includes all food and materials.
