Proceeds benefit the Rocky Mountain Raptor Program's efforts
to rehabilitate injured eagles, hawks and owls and help fund
public environmental education projects.
The event features a silent auction from 6-9 p.m. and a live
auction with auctioneer Jack Salisbury beginning at 7 p.m.
Auction items include weekend getaways in the mountains,
watercolor paintings, wood carvings and bronzes by local artists,
jewelry, books, dinners and other items donated by local
businesses.
Featured artists include Dan Ostermiller, Dawn Weimer, Lee
Kline, Sandi Scott, Bob O'Rourke, Jack Cooley, Gary Schneider and
Dick Pillmore.
The Ron Cottingham Trio will feature live jazz entertainment
and Joe's Fireside Cafe will provide gourmet catering.
Tickets are $12 and available through the raptor program
office at Colorado State's Veterinary Teaching Hospital complex,
300 W. Drake Road. Tickets also are available through raptor
program volunteers or at the door. All ticket holders will be
entered in a drawing for a hand-crafted quilt.
The raptor program is a self-sufficient volunteer effort
that provides medical care and rehabilitation to injured birds of
prey and environmental education programs to the public. In 1996,
approximately 150 volunteers helped treat 160 injured birds of
prey. About 50 percent of those birds were returned to the wild.
Through its educational efforts, the raptor program in 1996
reached nearly 10,000 students in 55 Colorado schools.
