Bliss Named Vice Chancellor Of Colorado State University System

Friday, January 3, 1997

DENVER--The State Board of Agriculture has promoted John Bliss to vice chancellor of the Colorado State University System in recognition of his skill as an administrator during his nearly 10-year tenure at the three-institution system.

Bliss, who has overseen administrative affairs for the university system since 1987, will oversee all academic and administrative affairs for the system in his new position. The Colorado State University System, governed by the State Board of Agriculture, is composed of Colorado State University, the University of Southern Colorado and Fort Lewis College.

Bliss will report to Albert C. Yates, chancellor of the Colorado State University System, and will begin his new duties Jan. 2.

"John has done an outstanding job, and this change reflects both his importance to the university system and his value as an able administrator," said Romaine Pacheco, president of the State Board of Agriculture. "We're always looking for ways to refine and improve our efficiency and at the same time reward outstanding performance with increased responsibility. We were able to do both in this instance."

The State Board of Agriculture also recently named David Clark associate vice chancellor for academic affairs. Clark, former vice provost at Colorado State University, will report to Bliss.
