FORT COLLINS--Rick Tusa, assistant vice chancellor and
director of internal auditing for the Colorado State University
System, recently was elected vice president/president-elect of
the Association of College and University Auditors.
Tusa's appointment involves a three-year commitment in which
he will first serve as vice president of the national
organization, effective Sept. 1997 through Sept. 1998. Tusa then
will serve as president for one year and finish his commitment
with a one-year term as past president.
The organization is composed of 500 auditors from
universities and colleges worldwide. Members elected Tusa at
their annual conference in September.
"I'm looking forward to serving my professional group in
this capacity and I'm honored to have been chosen by my peers,"
Tusa said.
Tusa has been actively involved in the association for 12
years and just completed the last leg of a three-year term as an
at-large board member. He also has served as chairman on numerous
committees and presented many professional education workshops
and training programs at the association's annual conference and
mid-year seminars.
Tusa, who reports to the State Board of Agriculture's audit
committee and the chancellor of the Colorado State University
System, started his career at Colorado State in 1979 as an
electronic data processing auditor. Tusa became director in 1985
and was appointed to his current position in 1991.
Tusa is responsible for all internal auditing in the three-
university system, which includes Colorado State in Fort Collins,
Fort Lewis College in Durango and the University of Southern
Colorado in Pueblo.
Tusa also is a certified information systems auditor and
certified fraud examiner. Prior to joining Colorado State, Tusa
was a systems analyst programmer and internal auditor in the
private sector for 12 years.
